Jago began her career working for Vibe FM radio station where she worked her way up from researcher to co-host of the breakfast programme. She was discovered by ITV News Anglia producers after participating in a television programme about Vibe FM. She also featured on Channel 5’s The Wright Stuff, where she introduced phone-in participants.

Additionally, in November 2001, she joined the CBBC children’s news series Newsround as one of the two main presenters. While working on the show, she went on a celebrity version of The Weakest Link. Unfortunately, she was the first eliminated after incorrectly answering the 50/50 question, “What is the safest way to read a firework instruction manual – a torch or a match?”

Moreover, on February 28, 2003, she joined Capital London as Chris Tarrant’s counterpoint on Capital Breakfast. After Tarrant left in 2004, she worked alongside the new presenter, Johnny Vaughan, but her contract terminated in December 2004. She later worked as a reporter for GMTV’s Entertainment Today and Sky Sports News before re-joining ITV Anglia as a feature reporter in May 2005.
