David Jeremiah is an American evangelical Christian author and creator of Turning Point Radio and Television Ministries. He also serves as a senior pastor of Shadow Mountain Community Church, a Southern Baptist megachurch in El Cajon, California, a suburb of San Diego.

David Jeremiah’s Career
Jeremiah is a renowned religious leader and founder of Turning Point Radio and Television Ministries. He established Blackhawk Baptist Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana, in 1969, and Blackhawk Christian School in 1973. Likewise, he debuted The Bible Hour that year, gaining expertise with using televised mass-media to proclaim the Gospel.
Additionally, he took over as senior pastor of Scott Memorial Baptist Church (now Shadow Mountain Community Church) from Tim LaHaye. His leadership has led to the church becoming associated with the Southern Baptist Convention and expanding to nine satellite locations. The church’s main site now houses the Christian Unified Schools of San Diego, a K-12 Christian school district.
Moreover, in 1982, he created Turning Point for God, a multi-media broadcast ministry with the goal of preaching God’s unchanging Word. It rose to national prominence through television, and it is now an international leader in the field of broadcast ministry. Notably, in 2020, he received the National Religious Broadcasters Hall of Fame Award as well as the NRB President’s Award.
Illness
David was diagnosed with lymphoma in 1994 and again in 1998. In 1999, a nodule in his neck was surgically removed, and he had stem cell transplant therapy. During this time, he wrote a memoir of his experiences entitled When Your World Falls Apart.
