Freddie Highmore is an English actor well known for his role as Dr. Shaun Murphy in The Good Doctor TV series. In the movies Finding Neverland (2004), Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005), August Rush (2007), and The Spiderwick Chronicles (2008), he first appeared in leading roles as a young child. He received two consecutive Best Young Performer Critics’ Choice Movie Awards.
In the drama-thriller series Bates Motel (2013–2017), Highmore played Norman Bates. Freddie Highmore was born on February 14, 1992, in Camden Town, London. Highmore has a younger brother named Albert “Bertie” Highmore. He attended The Brookland Junior and Infant School in Hampstead Garden Suburb before attending Highgate School. Highmore achieved straight A* grades in English language, English literature, maths, Spanish, French, Latin, geography, biology, chemistry, and physics in his GCSE exam in 2008. He attended Emmanuel College, Cambridge, from 2010 to 2014, earning a double first in Spanish and Arabic. He also enrolled at the London School of Economics to study finance during the summer break of 2011. At 7, Highmore made his acting debut in the 1999 comedy Women Talking Dirty starring Coky Giedroyc. He portrayed a youthful King Arthur in the TNT miniseries The Mists of Avalon and the BBC miniseries Happy Birthday Shakespeare. He returned to the big screen in 2004’s family adventure movie Two Brothers, playing the role of the French administrator’s son who rejects the idea that his new companion, a baby tiger named Sangha, might be harmful after tasting blood.
