Calderón is a renowned journalist who is currently working Univision. She originally appeared on Teleantioquia, a regional station, where she hosted many news shows. It is known that she made her national television debut on Noticiero CM& in 1998.
Additionally, she joined Telemundo three years later, where she hosted the weekend version of Noticiero Telemundo. In March 2007, she departed Telemundo to host the weekend version of Univision Primer Impacto. Afterwards, she became a regular co-host on the Monday-Friday edition with Barbara Bermudo.
Moreover, while still co-anchoring Primer Impacto, she became co-anchor of Univision’s late evening newscast “Noticiero Univision Edición Nocturna.” On June 3, 2011, she departed Primer Impacto to focus only on “Noticiero Univision Edición Nocturna.” In addition, she received an Emmy for her interview with Ku Klux Klan imperial wizard Christopher Barker in 2017.
Furthermore, she made history when she replaced former co-anchor Maria Elena Salinas on Noticiero Univision in December 2017. As a result, she became the first Afro-Latina to anchor a daily primetime newscast on a major US broadcast network. Similarly, she also co-hosted CNN’s eleventh Democratic Presidential Debate alongside Jake Tapper and Dana Bash.
