Scott’s Career

In Columbia, Missouri, Scott started his career as a correspondent for KOMU-TV (NBC), a station run and owned by the University of Missouri. Later, he worked for WPLG-TV (ABC) in Miami as a reporter, co-anchor, and evening news anchor throughout the week. Additionally, he was a bureau chief and reporter for Denver’s KUSA-TV (NBC). Scott started working as a correspondent for the syndicated news show Inside Edition in 1988.

Scott worked as a Dateline NBC correspondent from 1992 until 1995. Before eventually joining the Fox News Channel in 1996, he hosted A Current Affair. He watches The MacNeil/Lehrer NewsHour with great interest.

Scott was hosting Fox News Live during the September 11 attacks and was the person to imply on air that the attacks may have been orchestrated by Osama bin Laden. While pursuing his aviation training, Scott researched the Bojinka conspiracy, which involved Ramzi Yousef and bin Laden’s collaboration and resulted in one airline flight death and 10 injuries. Scott was able to identify the possibility that the Bojinka plot was a bin Laden operation by tracking the scheme’s timeframe and the events that were taking place in the US at the time.

He was the studio host for Fox News’ coverage of Operation Neptune Spear, the mission in which American forces killed bin Laden, on May 1 and 2, 2011. Scott’s news writing for the NBC show Dateline earned him an Emmy.
