Franklin is a vastly recognized gospel singer, songwriter, and rapper. He is widely known as the Reigning King of Urban Gospel by Variety Magazine. Likewise, he is one of the Black Music & Entertainment Walk of Fame’s inaugural inductees.
Most noteworthy, he was signed by the fledgling GospoCentric Records label alsong with his “The Family” voice choir. During this time, the group released their Kirk Franklin & The Family debut album. As a result, the albulm ranked as No. 1 on the Billboard Top Gospel Albums chart for 42 weeks.
Furthermore, it was on the gospel music charts such as the R&B charts for almost two years and sold over a million units. He also served as the host of Sunday Best on the BET original series. Afterward, he co-hosted The American Bible Challenge with Jeff Foxworthy on GSN.
On the other hand, he is a choir director known for his work on God’s Property Christian R&B ensemble. He also led urban contemporary gospel group such as One Nation Crew and The Family. In addition, he made several guest appearances on the Sister, Sister hit television sitcom.
