Laurence Fox is an English actor, presenter, singer, and political activist from England. He is best known for his portrayal as DS James Hathaway in the drama series Lewis from 2006–2015.

Fox made his acting debut in the 2001 horror-thriller The Hole. He then appeared in Robert Altman’s 2001 picture Gosford Park. Likewise, he starred in a number of films and television shows wearing uniforms, including parts as a German airman in Island at War (2004), and an SS officer in The Last Drop (2005).

Additionally, he portrayed Capt. Tom Willis in the last made-for-television picture of World War II. In the final ten minutes of the film, actor Kevin Whately caught Fox’s performance. The following day, at a discussion about a new project, Whately stated that Fox “would be worth looking into.”

Most noteworthy, he has also played Prince Charles in Whatever Love Means (2005). Similarly, he was seen on ITV in same year as Cecil Vyse in Andrew Davies’ adaptation of E.M. Forster’s 1908 classic A Room with a View. He also featured in George Bernard Shaw’s Mrs. Warren’s Profession at the Strand Theatre.

Furthermore, he co-starred in Treats by Christopher Hampton with his future wife, Billie Piper, between 2006 and 2007.
