Moe Shamell is an American certified meteorologist who currently works as the Meteorologist on Good Morning West Tennessee and Midday/Noon on WBBJ TV. In February 2017, he joined the Eyewitness News Weather Team.

Shamell was obsessed with weather and understood from a young age that it was his calling. In fact, as a child, he wished to be a tree! That was, of course, before he realised the trees were swaying in the breeze. He received his first taste of weather when he worked as a Storm Team Spotter for local station WFIE-TV in elementary school.

Additionally, by the time he was in high school, he was in charge of the weather for the Evansville North High School weekly news. Despite his dedication and enthusiasm for forecasting, Moe eventually found his way to Jackson and WBBJ-TV to join Storm Team Weather.

Moe Shamell’s Illness

Moe experienced a sinus illness in January 2022 before testing positive for COVID-19. He slept with his cat Iola during the majority of his quarantine. But one evening, he awoke from his siesta with an odd feeling.

He showered, dressed, and drove to a local clinic, where he realised there was more to it. He was transferred to Jackson-Madison County General Hospital, where a stroke and a carotid artery clot were discovered. In addition, after two weeks of relaxation, he began intense treatment at the West Tennessee Rehabilitation Centre.
