She mentioned that she was too shy to act in high school, but began performing at Northwestern University after transferring from Boston University as a way to make friends. She eventually relocated to New York in search of work on television, obtaining minor appearances on shows such as Law & Order: Criminal Intent. In 2013, she made her Broadway debut in The Other Place.
