After college, Colin worked as a reporter and copy editor for the Staten Island Advance. He then ventured into television, working as a writer for the Nickelodeon animated show “Kappa Mikey.” In 2005, he joined the writing team at Saturday Night Live (SNL).

Throughout his tenure at SNL, Colin held various roles, including writing supervisor from 2009 to 2012 and co-head writer from 2012 to 2015. He regained the co-head writer position from 2017 to 2022, often collaborating with Rob Klein.

Colin’s career took a significant turn when he was asked to co-anchor SNL’s “Weekend Update” segment, replacing Seth Meyers, who left to host “Late Night with Seth Meyers.” Colin’s contributions led to him breaking Seth Meyers’ record as the longest-serving anchor in the segment’s history.
