Since 1999, Lelan has been a part of the top-rated morning newscast, NewsChannel 5 This Morning. Initially, he joined the NewsChannel 5 Network as the weather anchor for weekend morning and evening newscasts in 1993.
It is known that he began his TV news journey in Knoxville, working at WTVK-TV (now WVLT). Afterward, he joined WATE News where he took on various roles such as producer, photojournalist, tape editor, weekend assignment editor, and weather anchor.
Most noteworthy, he collaborated with Black Entertainment Television News during his tenure in Knoxville. In 1990, he transitioned to WCYB-TV in Bristol, Virginia, to serve as a weekend weather anchor and reporter. On the other hand, he is a past Black Achiever with the YMCA.
Furthermore, he actively participates on boards such as Cornerstone Financial Credit UnionNorthwest YMCA. He is also a member of Middle TN Boy Scouts, the Board of Visitors for UTK College, and Laughter is the Best Medicine.
