Seacrest joined comedian Brian Dunkleman as co-host of the new Fox reality television series American Idol. The next year, he took over as the only host and presented the spin-off show American Juniors in 2003. In addition, in July 2009, he agreed to a $45 million contract extension with CKX to continue hosting American Idol, making him the highest-paid reality television host at the time.
